Shannon Walton, MSPT

Shannon is the owner of the Orthopedic Back and Sports Center. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy in 1995. He has a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Physiology and has worked as a trainer and fitness consultant. Shannon has worked extensively in outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine with experience using the McKenzie method to treat spinal disorders. He became MedX certified at the University of Florida in 1999 and is also certified in the Graston method of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization.

Shannon enjoys spending time with his family, especially outdoors where he mountain bikes and snowboards. Shannon also coaches little league and soccer in his hometown.
Samuel Carr, MSPT

Sam went to Ithaca College and received his Bachelors of Science in Clinical Science in 1996 and then his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 1997. He began learning about how the human body moves and achieves balance early on by studying martial arts at the age of 12. As a martial arts instructor in high school, Sam started studying injury and recovery after his mother, a nurse, gave him the book called “Sports Health”, written by physicians of the Red Sox and Bruins during the 1980’s. Physical Therapy combined many of his interests. Since graduating he has worked in outpatient orthopedics, first through workers compensation in Connecticut and then for a time on site at the Bath Iron Works shipyard, where may DDG Class Destroyers have been built for the US Navy. Sam is now applying his knowledge to spinal dysfunction in conjunction with using MedX strengthening equipment. Most recently he is applying orthopedics and its impact on patients with vertigo symptoms in cervical spine dysfunction.
Ara Sakayan, PT, ATC, CSCS

Ara is a physical therapist, athletic trainer and a strength and conditioning specialist. He received his orthopedic physical therapy training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Two years later he started a sports physical therapy practice in Boston. During this time he was also a trainer at the high school, collegiate and professional sports levels. Most notably, he was the Head Trainer/Therapist for the New England Revolution professional soccer team and Boston Blazers Professional Lacrosse team. He has also worked with other professional athletes including members of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Detroit Lions, St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Redskins, in addition to numerous Olympic athletes and members of the Boston Ballet.

Ara has extensive experience in the care of orthopedic and sports injuries, and is available to see patients on both a physician referral as well as a non-referral basis. He also offers complimentary injury evaluations.

He presently practices in Marblehead, Boston and Wakefield.
